Bearers and Stairs

We have a great bearer/cook (bearer=maid). His name is Alum and he is a hard worker. Last week he fixed our freezer door with some wire so we could start storing food in that part again. His most recent task was cleaning the stairs outside our apartment. When we came home there was the smell of bleach hanging about and our stairs were the cleanest they've been. Yesterday the bearer for the family on the first floor was scrubbing their stairs. Alum said that all the bearers in the building were talking about him and grumbling because they now had to clean like he did. Apparently he uses sand paper to get the tiles so clean! Make them work Alum!
